Reviewing Madewell's Spring Collection
A deeper look into why everything that Madewell designs *just* works.
This is a paid shopping guide in partnership with Madewell Men’s — all recommendations are my own :)
I know we're all feeling that late-winter fatigue. The layers are getting old, the dark colors are feeling heavier by the day, and we're all just waiting for that first proper spring morning.
I've been working with the folks at Madewell to preview their Spring 2025 collection, and I’ll say this with my chest, either way, that this is precisely what we need right now.
So I've pulled together three looks that showcase some of my favorite pieces from the new collection. Since I know my readers are spread across different climates (some of you are already in t-shirt weather while others are still shoveling snow), I wanted to cover a range of spring scenarios.
The morning coffee run
There's something about a field jacket that works in that transitional weather. It’s worked for decades, and it's still true today.
What makes this work:
That utility field jacket is the perfect weight for spring – substantial enough to cut the morning chill but not so heavy that you'll be sweating by lunch.
Carpenter jeans have that slightly relaxed fit that feels right for now without going full 90s baggy.
I added those yellow Nike GPS sneakers to bring in some functional sportswear energy and a hit of color that pops against the more muted pieces.
One of the best things about spring is finally using your jacket as an actual style piece rather than just survival gear. This is exactly the kind of outfit I throw on for a weekend coffee run that somehow turns into an all-day city adventure.
New rules in the office
Remember when office dress codes were a thing? Yeah, me neither (sorry if you’re still there).
What I like about this:
The midweight crewneck sweatshirt hits that perfect balance – it's polished enough for a client meeting but comfortable enough that you don't feel like you're "dressing up."
Those canvas utility pants are the hardest working item in the collection – tough enough for actual work but clean-lined enough for the office.
The Paraboot moccasins and baseball cap combo keeps it from feeling too precious.
This is what I mean by clothes that work for real life – you can go from a morning meeting to lunch to after-work drinks without feeling over or underdressed at any point.
Channeling that Alain Delon Riviera energy
For those lucky enough to be somewhere warm (or planning an escape), this one's for you.
The breakdown:
That navy and white striped sailor shirt feels like a reverse homage to Paul Newman's iconic white-with-navy-stripes look – instantly classic but still fresh.
The unstructured cotton blend blazer is my favorite kind of jacket – one that looks better slightly rumpled than perfectly pressed.
Those white fatigue pants with utility pockets are the perfect weight for warmer days.
Finished with that metal-tipped leather belt for a touch of hardware.
This is the outfit you throw on for a long lunch that turns into sunset drinks at a beach bar. Relaxed but put-together in that effortless way that actually takes some thought (but no one needs to know that part).
When clothes belong to your life, not your closet
I've always had a thing for clothing that doesn't try too hard but still manages to say something. Simple pieces worn with confidence and a point of view that feel intentional without screaming for attention.
Madewell has created thoughtful building blocks with this spring collection that let you do exactly that. The attention to proportions is evident across every category, but especially in those pants and trousers I mentioned earlier. Nothing here is fighting for attention, but everything has enough character to feel intentional rather than anonymous.
In a world of increasingly wild trends and five-minute fashion cycles, there's something deeply satisfying about clothes that just work, season after season. The kind that become so comfortable and familiar they might as well have your name stitched into them.
That's what this collection offers – pieces that feel like they've always been in your rotation, even when they're brand new. And isn't that the whole point?
To find things that feel like they belong to your life, not just your closet.
Where do I get those Paraboot moccasins???
Hyped for this. Thanks for the great content
