Welcome to the Teddy Santis x New Balance era
One of the most anticipated drops of 2022 is finally here.
Twelve months after New Balance announced they were appointing ALD’s Teddy Santis to be their Creative Director for NB’s Made in USA line, we’ve got some updates.
Overall, he’s been pretty quiet about things, but tomorrow morning Teddy launches his first collection with the brand, and I’m excited about it for a few reasons…
One, it’s good to see Made in the USA projects get some love in a more elevated luxury way, and in a less Americana-y, denim lover way. Here’s a visual cue (granted, this is also textbook ALD styling).
Two, I love the streak NB is on. I’ve written about this before, but the last 5+ years, they’ve made some brilliant moves as a brand, placing creativity in the hands of culture shifters, and it’s working. So here’s a little teaser of what drops tomorrow.
And yes, I will be copping these.
Drop date: April 28th, Thursday
Time: 10am ET

North Face launches the Re-Grind program
This is my collab of the year so far. And again, as I predicted, Gorpcore projects will continue to mature. And if this is what maturation looks like, give me this all day!
North Face collab’d with Online Ceramics for an Earth Day drop, focusing on TNF’s Re-Grind program, where they make garments from scraps in the brand's factories.
I can’t get over how insane these pieces are. If you want to get one yourself you’ll have to join their XPLR Pass (TNF’s loyalty program).
Date: April 29, Friday
Time: TBD

Hidden x Needles, a masterpiece
Another prediction I made in January was that more brands would be creating custom, one-off pieces.
That’s exactly what Hidden NY did with Needles.
This collection of upcycled garments dropped on 4/15, and it’s one of my favorites from Hidden. Period.
They cut lines of fabrics from different used garments and then sewed them together in one. And here’s a video showing you how. It’s phenomenal, and a nice deviation from Hidden’s usual t-shirts, hoodies, and socks drops…

ACL’s time at the Masters
This is a fantastic look inside The Masters, golf’s most coveted event. Worth the read, if for nothing else than to see photos like this.
Cole Bennett x Nike on storytelling
Filmmaker Cole Bennett is teaming up with Nike to teach a curriculum on storytelling. It’s really dope to see Nike giving people like Cole a spotlight after he’s spent years honing his craft behind the scenes, supporting local and independent artists.
Well deserved.
