My brother, I read the bit where you describe it as ‘editorial’ and ‘not sponsored’. Now I’m sure there’s head of a pin you can dance on to justify that to yourself…but c’mon my brother objectively does a post about a sofa and knife set you been gifted, and push a discount code for the former, pass the sniff test as truly independent opinion? You work in branding and marketing, with journalists, etc - there is no way this is editorial or not sponsored.
The editorial comment concerns the photos my friend took, which are editorial.
The discount code is because the sofa isn't cheap, so I am offering the discount so people can save money if they want. There's no car salesman tactics from me. I was gifted products (which I often am), and I shared my POV with my readers, who want to know what I think about them / what they look like.
I'm not claiming to be anything. This is my newsletter, it's self run/funded/operated and I post content I like, that's kind of it. I tell people when I'm paid to post content on here, and this stuff isn't paid.

It’s disingenuous to describe this as editorial- the sofa and the knives are straight up advertorial. They’re are gifted items, just own it.
