This is part of an ongoing retail series I’m doing city-by-city.

I’ve already made guides for:

  • London

  • Paris

  • Los Angeles

  • New York City

Next, we present Amsterdam, a city I’ve spent loads of time in and one that has a low-key excellent selection of retail shops and brands for a city its size.

My good friend, Teun van der Meer—one of the taller Dutch men you’ll meet—carefully curated this list with me and wrote some awesome words on why these shops should be included.

Teun is the head barista at the much-hyped and wonderful Saint-Jean, a cafe in the city. It’s a delightful place, so if you’re in Amsterdam, go visit and tell him I sent you.

Give this man a follow!

A few notes about these guides ❤️

  1. If you’re looking for trendy shit on the cheap, this isn’t the best place to look. You need the right stuff, not more stuff.

  2. If you like these guides, please share them with a homie, partner, family member, lover, or anyone who would appreciate it!

If you are a free subscriber, you’ll still get some free emails but not any guides, shopping lists, etc.

Note: these shopping guides are paywalled. Sub here to get access to the archive on our website.

Concrete Matter

Neighborhood: Nine Streets (center)

Price: −$

NOTES: Concrete Matter is located close to the city center, and the curated vintage is unmatched. The store has a wildly diverse selection, from rare military and hunting jackets to unique vintage Levi’s jeans, old Polo, uber-niche college knits, and varsity jackets.

They have a solid selection of accessories in the glass case at the till. I find myself most of the time trying on something I never knew I liked, let alone something I never knew existed. Well worth the visit.
