Love this for you. As an Australian, flying internationally is an endurance sport. You best look the other way while I waltz in wearing my Olympic best
“In the same way you wouldn’t roll up a dinner reservation looking like you crawled out of the hamper, why should airports get the short end of the sartorial stick?”
The airline industry were first to not keep their end of this deal. You can’t expect people to dress up for a Waffle House level service.
I dunno where you go or what airlines you fly on where air travel is "ghetto", but take a flight out of any DC airport and its honestly a pretty nice experience. I've never noticed any "ghetto" behavior flying either international or domestic, but I find that pretty much all the travelers realize that they're gonna be sitting with everyone in a small metal tube for the next couple hours and act kindly. Even lounges are much more civilized than you'd expect considering how easily accessible they are these days (since apparently everyone just gets lounge access with their credit card).
How it relates to how I dress, one, it’s dirty asf so nothing nice or that needs to be dry cleaned, no exposed skin touching the seat; two, TSA checks have you talking shit off so wearing clothes with no belt or decorations, slip on shoes, and there’s the possibility of being undressed so the logical conclusion is pajamas or athleisure.
Other than that, like every other service industry, again, it’s dirty, staff don’t give a shit; and you are constantly charged more for decreasing amenities.
In the staff’s defense, they are not given enough time to clean properly and they are likely fatigued from all the Karens, Kevins, and Shaniquas who cannot act right.
Love your initiative to bring up this topic! It’s necessary 😉
My 2 cents…never buy a travel tote or travel backpack without slip on feature in the back…🩶
I can’t travel without a hooded piece, it’s like a cocoon that calms you down for deep sleep…
Great piece. Some of this seems tough for long-haul, though. I'd hesitate to wear really expensive things on a 10-hour+ journey.
Def more sticky on the longer flights but the sentiment still applies!
I am stealing the look in that last photo.
I usually wear a wool blazer/jacket. Inside pockets are king at the airport and they never seem the crease like a lighter material blazer would.

Yaaaasssss
"To be clear, Denzel and Hugh Grant put that shit on! But it feels a bit tired to keep playing old hits if there’s never anything new to show for"

There’s dignity in treating travel like an occasion
The Kanye A.P.C. "airport sweater" era was something
Yes! Love it
Clayton I’m waiting for the day our paths cross in an airport. They can be special places (but mostly annoying)
Waiting for the day we actually hang out man!
Love this. I settled on a Lululemon jacket and pants but you have me thinking. Kirk’s airport pics always look cool.
Haha always room to experiment
Just put a bit more effort in, is what I take away from this.
Amen
I will dress nicer when air travel is cleaner and less ghetto

Love the denim over shirt in the pic. Any chance you know who makes it?
