A primer on American Giant
In 2011, Bayard Winthrop laid the foundation for American Giant, a San Francisco-based apparel company with a singular vision—to craft the ultimate hoodie. Over thirteen years, the company has expanded its product range, yet its essence remains rooted in daily essentials like exceptional hoodies, T-shirts, and sweats.
Creating an outstanding hoodie, according to Winthrop, involves eschewing shortcuts. Around 2013, Winthrop played a pivotal role in rescuing Eagle Sportswear, an apparel manufacturer in rural Middlesex, North Carolina, from imminent closure.
