Perfect timing! I am going back home to Edinburgh in April sans wife and kids (from my other home, Melbourne). Some great new spots for me to check out in a city filled to the brim with choices (except maybe in menswear...).
I’ll put in a note for Portobello (about 3 miles out of the centre). A wonderful beachside town to visit - lots of good cafes, a quality bookshop, a few good pubs plus an amazing Turkish Baths in the swimming pool (a hidden gem).
On the menswear/clothing side I would add Frontier (with brands like Howlin) and Walker Slater for a bit of an updated take on tweed. Armstrong’s vintage is also worth a look for fun. Finally, The Dominion cinema is a classic and I plan to finally check out the amazing looking cinema in The Scotsman Hotel.
