A conversation with Andrew Chen, co-founder of 3sixteen, on twenty years of jeans, finding your voice, and what it really means to make something well.
Yeah and it says a lot that everyone says the same thing about him & Johan. Turns out it is actually possible to be a good person and hold to good principles in this industry! Wish we saw this more
Starting with one simple idea that you’re passionate about is always a winning move. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been overwhelmed (and my work was suffering) before realizing I’m doing entirely too much 😭
Side note: this interview felt straight out of HBO’s How to Make it in America!
Fun fact, in the episode where they go to a pattern maker and show him the binder full of sketches and inspiration photos, some of the earliest photos of our SL-100x jeans are in the binder. Andrew is a legend. I feel like he does business in a way that is really principled, has a point of view and also gracious.
