"I’m not trying to go all Die Workwear on you, but I do feel that guys didn’t dress that way for any reason other than the simplicity that existed around style back then. And that’s something we all envy nowadays.

So we dip back into the well and try to rebuild those looks for ourselves.

How do we feel about that?"

That segment is now one of my new favorite things I've ever read on the philosophy of menswear. I feel like it really nailed something I've believed in but couldn't quite put my finger on, or explicate, or something. Bravo.

Thanks Johnny! It's something I think about a lot. Ultimately i think there's a lot we can take from style icons like these guys mentioned above

Been on a major hunt for a vintage Ralph barn coat on eBay. Can't wait for Fall either!

Autumn/Fall style is the absolute greatest. I loved the recent Huckberry piece of layering and wanted to buy all the pieces but I live in a country where it is perpetually warm and a light jacket is all that is needed. I am seriously thinking of moving so I can wear coats and jackets more often.

R.E. Moodboard menswear, I seem to come back to this conversation a lot, that we ought to be considerate of how much of the “style” of Selleck, Ford, McQueen etc. comes from the fact that they’re conventionally attractive, white actors, it’s same these days with Elordi, Allen White, Butler. Whilst that specific appearance is absolutely not a requirement to be dressed really damn well, maybe it needs to be a consideration when we’re talking about simple outfits. Sometimes it’s just better quality, old clothes on hot guys. Curious for thoughts on this?

I tend to agree that we often covet the look of the individual rather than appreciate the fit. Harry Styles is a key example. He´s quite a good looking and in-shape guy, but not especially. He´s a talented singer and performer, but again, not especially. What he is, is famous and desired. If he was a regular guy on the street wearing the fits he is well-known for I don´t think people would think it was cool. The Sellecks, Fords and McQueens on the other hand are in my opinion more traditionally handsome and their fits are far more accessible and achievable for most blokes in a way that Styles´ or Barry Keoghan´s aren´t. Jeremy Allen White, on the other hand is way more down to earth. Maybe his style will be referenced 30 years from now... Only time will tell.
