These last few northeast mornings have been in the low 40º’s, and the as the sun starts to disappear earlier each day, there’s a sense that we’ll all be bundling up sooner rather than later.
What a perfect excuse to buy a brand new coat.
When it comes to overcoats, there’s a wide range of options.
You can go classic and sartorial with a good double-breasted wool coat, or you can try the oversized polo coat look of the 90’s. Maybe you want something roomier with cozy shoulders — there are many balmacaans and raglan sleeved options available for you (as long as you remember that every balmacaan has raglan sleeves, but not every raglan sleeved coat is a balmacaan).
If wool and tweed and cashmere isn’t your thing, there are also a ton lighter and waterproof options in the form of a mac coat.
One note though — this is going to be the most expensive guide we’ve done so far. Good coats don’t come cheap, but they do last a long, long time if you care for them. In the spirit of buying better and less, it might be in your best interest to spend a little more $ on something that will outlive you.
If you’ve been following along, we’ve already put together guides on:

A few notes about these guides ❤️
As always, if you’re looking for trends to rotate through, this isn’t the right guide for you. You need the right stuff, not more stuff.
A lot of these recommendations tend to be medium to higher price point (especially this one). If you’re looking for quality, affordable options, I always recommend thrifting what you can (like eBay, vinted, etc), or looking at options like Uniqlo.
If you like these guides, share them with a homie, partner, family member, lover, or anyone who would appreciate it!
